Secretary of the Young Republicans of Oregon Andrew Huwe Announced his Candidacy for Chairman of the Young Republicans of Oregon
ENTERPRISE—Andrew Huwe, the dedicated Secretary of the Young Republicans of Oregon, is thrilled to announce his candidacy for Chairman of the YRO. As a 7th-generation Oregonian, elected PCP in Wallowa County, former legislative staffer, and Gen Z conservative candidate who ran for Senate District 29, Huwe is committed to pushing the envelope of the YRO. His dedication is evident in the fact that since his involvement, he and the members he has recruited have doubled the size of the Organization.
Huwe, a product of the Mid Columbia River Gorge and North Eastern Oregon, where Senate District 29 Calls home, had three goals when he ran for State Senate. His three goals were clear: to win the Senate Seat, to train the YRO’s Young Republicans on how to run and operate a campaign, and to strengthen the connections between the County Republican Parties and the YRO. While he may have lost the Senate Race, the other two goals surpassed his expectations. Four of the Young Republicans who trained with his campaign are now running different campaigns, which will lead us to be able to take back the house.
Huwe has been a driving force since joining the YRO in late 2022. He served as temporary Secretary until he was elected Secretary in Early 2023. His contributions have been significant, including a large amount of modernization and the initiation of several key initiatives. Huwe has also played a pivotal role in shaping how the Organization runs its social media in Coordination with Christopher Gray. This has significantly increased the YRO’s online presence and led to more extensive Search Engine Optimization for the YRO and Oregon Republican Party (ORP). During the Platform Convention, Huwe also served as the Secretary of the Immigration Plank and helped convince Chairman Justin Hwang to recreate a position for the YRO on the ORP Executive Board. Huwe has also advocated for the YRO by speaking in front of multiple conservative groups across the State of Oregon and being an advocate nationally within the Young Republican National Federation.
“The YRO has been undergoing a rebuilding phase since before I joined, and we have been making progress. While respectfully disagreeing with leadership members at times, Under the groundwork I have helped lay, our Organization has proliferated, and we have taken a positive direction as we work towards advancing our goals for Oregon. However, much work still needs to be done to win back our State. Through my involvement in the YRO, the Republican Party, my Senate Run, and my professional endeavors, I have demonstrated my dedication and ability to achieve results. To transition out of this rebuilding phase, it is crucial to have hardworking individuals who bring fresh perspectives. I have been instrumental in introducing new ideas and engaging people with innovative thoughts, contributing to the Organization’s growth. I am committed to providing the necessary vision, strong leadership, and expertise to ensure the continued success and improvement of the YRO.”
