Statement on the Second Attempt on President Donald Trump's Life

ENTERPRISE—Secretary of the Young Republicans of Oregon and Chairman Candidate Andrew Huwe released the following statement.

"Today, we had another attempt on President Trump's life. While I am grateful to hear that President Trump is safe following this second attempt, we are continuing to see the temperature rising, causing more political violence. 

This type of violence has no place in American politics and should not exist in a civilized nation. We can not have continued attempts on our leaders' lives, as this will lead us to become a Disunited States of America.

The exponential growth of political violence since the 2010s can not continue. We must stand as one and lower the temperature. This temperature, divisiveness, and discord are not what we need.

We must come together and remember that these political differences and disputes over our values will be settled in 50 days at the ballot box, just as we have done since the beginning of our Nation."
